The weather finally relented to let the Jailhouse’s promotion charge get back on track. The first home game in over 3 months seen us host Crew on a boggy but well groomed Stanley Road.
The usual rear guards were present, Yates, Bond, T-Bone and Kev Wilson. Midfield seen a return for Adam Taylor along side Gregs, Bez on the left and a debut start for Carl Willet aka Will ! Up front seen a return for Smithy partnering Ruddy all captained by Booth in goal.
A must win game seen the Jailhouse with the usual all out attacking. With difficult pitch conditions the midfield quartet managed to carve out some neat football creating chance’s for themselves and the strikers. The dead lock was broken when a trade mark Gregs through ball found Smithy tearing down the right side who slotted it over for Ruddy to tap home the first and his 12th of the season. Looking like we were in control a lose ball was fed over the top and exposed our defence, leaving there striker one on one with Boothy who won the ball but was alleged to bring the man down first. The resulting pen seen the Jailers go in a half time one all.
The second half and early pressure was applied again by the midfield with Gregs forcing and early corner. From the resulting corner T-Bone rose to make is 2 -1 and picking up his second Jailhouse goal. The pressure was piling on as the Jailhouse defence had things sealed up at the back with Boothy taking the odd goal kick. A third was inevitable and with a quick throw in again instrumented by Gregs, Smith whipped the ball in for Will to slot home on his debut. The Gaffa made some changes in the final staged bring on big Yaya (Monkey) and fresh from holiday and 3 stone heavier Gav Woolley. A forth goal was added when Bez crossed the ball for Smith to finally knock home his first in 4 games.
In the end a comfortable win with a very note worth performance from the defence and especially man of the match Craig Goode.
