Tribune Cup : Second Round
Second round of the Tribune Cup seen Premier One high flyers Haunchwood Sport visit Stanley Road The pitch free from the previous week’s gypsies and freshly cut was looking in prime condition …and from the previous days London trip seen not so fresh looking group of players! Team sheet was Booth between the sticks, Wilson, Pabs, Chef and Yates filled the void for T-Bone. Midfield seen Liam on the right, Bez on the left and Gav and Taylor in the middle. Up top Smith and Luke.
An abysmal start to the game seen the Jailhouse concede inside two minutes. Just after the restart midfield “maestro” Taylor was subbed for what can only be described as – still drunk! Ben Gregory fresh from his holiday slotted back into midfield. A further 4 goals were conceded before Luke coolly passed the ball into the net for a first half consolation goal and his 3rd goal this season.
Half time and a massive telling off from the gaffa was received by the naughty school children – word far too graphic to repeat in this report.
Time to go out and correct our wrongs ……however things got worse straight from the kick off a mix up between Wilson and Pabs let there striker in for a 6 goal! Not what the gaffa ordered. 6 one down and finally the Jailhouse lads switched on and started to play as they can. A customary Gregs to Smith ball opened up the scoring only to be pegged back by another Haunchwood goal. 7 – 2 and Smith netted a further two to grab a hat-trick and take the score line to a more respectable 7 – 4. Again the back line was broken and Haunchwood nicked an 8th goal. Lee Rud once again came off the bench and netted the Jailhouses 5th late consolation goal and his 4 of the season.
A below par performance from a hung over team. With an excellent performance from Nik Booth in goal who kept the score from being far greater.
