Stanley Road
Tribune Cup
First game of the season seen the Jailers thrown in at the deep end, with a Tribune Cup tie against Premier Two side Amberside back at the fortress Stanley Road.
With the new regime at the helm a fresh look Jailhouse team was fielded. The ever presence of Booth in goal, Skipper Wilson at centre half along with new roles for both Bond and Pabs, left and right back respectively, making up the back line was a gift from God – Jesus. The midfield quartet started with former manger Gregs in a central role, along side a former Polish International Adam Taylor, veteran striker Bez filled the void on the left and on the right Liam Hegarty, fresh from the academy. The strike force consisted of another academy player Luke Devine and Talisman Smith.
It was a nervous start by both teams on an almost crop length pitch, however it was the Jailhouse who opened up the scoring after 20 minute with a neat ball from Gregs for Smith to slot home the opener. During the attack the Amberside keeper fell awkwardly damaging his ankle and the game was rightly delayed until the emergency service arrived. After the restart the Jailhouse doubled there lead with new boy Taylor finding Bez which he put away with his left foot. The third and 4th goals came from young gun Luke Divine again good work from Gregs in the midfield creating the chances and excellent finishing Four nil to the good and half time arrived with the new look back line not even breaking a sweat, such is the power of Jesus.
Second half started where we left off, with all out Jailhouse attack, some excellent wing play coming from both side sides with Pab and Bond starting most of the dangerous attacks. The introduction of striker Ruddy made an immediate impact after midfielders Gregs and Taylor combine for Ruddy to finish emphatically. Sealing a 5 nil home won.
An excellent start to the new campaign with a more then comfortable win and a clean sheet, slightly over shadowed by the ankle injury the to opposing teams keeper.
