After a tough two weeks with consecutive defeats in both the league and cup it was time to regroup and pull together as a team. An injury hit squad seen several changes in the starting line up, reverting back to 4-4-2. Booth, as always between the sticks, left back seen a recall for Bond, Liam held his place at right back and it was a return from injury for T-Bone who also took the captains arm band off centre half partner Wilson. Midfield saw Gav and Gregs link up, Bez in his groove on the left and a new roll for Pabs in right midfield. Up top was Ruddy and Luke.

A damp start to the game saw the Jailers shooting to there favourite end setting up to get an early lead. Reborn Pabs was causing some early trouble down the right flank with some mazy “Rondalo like” runs, excellent play in the middle of the park from Gregs and Gav seen most of there play broken up leaving our defence with little to do. The dead lock was broken when Luke Devine went on a mazy “Pabs like” run and cross the ball for Ruddy to score in off the post.
A second was to follow when a neat ball from Bez put Pabs through to coolly and calmly slot the ball under the on coming keeper for his second goal of the season! A slight scuffle seen Ruddy pick up a yellow card towards the end of the half – naughty boy!

Two nil to the good the Gaffa demanded more of the same in the second half, only for the lads to let slip from a well worked corner. From the restart the Jailers piled on the pressure with Gregs carving out most the openings from the midfield with through balls to Bez, Luke and Ruddy only for some last ditch tackling to save Ridge Lane from fall further behind. Ridge Lane were lucky not to equalise half way through only for the outstanding Booth to pull off some top point blank saves. The third Jailhouse goal came after a stern winning tackle from Gregs in the middle of the park left the ball loose for Ruddy to latch onto and fire the ball home.

10 minutes from time, strapped up, braced up and colour coordinated taped up - The freak show was rolled out, the long return of Michael Haynes aka Dennis. Maggie had taken off the shackles for the first time in over a season oh and slightly plagued by injuries, including water on the knee(s), cut elbows, popping thighs not to mention his level of fitness, never the less he was stripped, wound up, primed for action and to make an immediate impact……….we’re still waiting!

A most improved performance and back to winning ways. Star man game from Gregs (usually labelled the scapegoat) and a note worth congratulations to passed captain Wilson for completing 900 minutes of football and not missing a minute so far this season.
