A damp, cold morning seen the Jailers host Chase Res for the 9th home game of the season. After the previous weeks return to winning ways the team was slightly altered as the treatment room is still chocker block. Booth in goal and newly awarded captain for the game, Kev Wilson was accompanied with the versatile machine Pabs at centre half, Bond left back and Liam right back. Midfield remained with Gregs and Gav in the centre aka Xavi, Iniesta! Bez stuck in his hole on the left side and a new role for Chefman on right wing. Up front saw the pairing of inform Ruddy with Luke.

Shooting towards the East Stand it was quick start for the Jailers (as always) with the main work coming from the wings delivering testing crosses for the keeper to deal with in tricky conditions. The bulk of the set up play was coming from Xavi and Iniesta feeding the wingers and strikers with threading through balls. The first goal of the game went to the Jailers, a parried cross fell nicely to Lukes feet who slotted home his 5th goal of the season. A second goal was to follow when a rare run from Bez seen him brought down in the box to win a penalty. Up stepped Gav (Iniesta) to show the rest of the team how a penalty should be taken!

Half time and the Jailers were pottering along nicely without the defence and Boothy being tested. A 3rd goal was added to the Jailhouse score board when Gregs hit an outside of the boot shot that was finger tipped away only for Ruddy help himself to his 9th goal of the season and to over take the master talisman, Smithy, in the lead scorers chart!

With a comfortable lead the gaffa started to think about next week, resting some of the lads. It was a season debut for midfield hall of famer “The Sgt” who came on in an attacking position for Ruddy. It wasn’t long before the old dog made an impact……chesting down the ball for, the now instrumental, Gregs to chip a ball to the back stick for Bez to notch his first for 3 weeks.

80th minute and the match was all but over ………once again it was time to roll out the freak show. With no disrespect, replacing Chefman, who had a cracking game on the right side of midfield. The customary tape was on the socks (yellow to match the kit of course) and there was more strapping on him then a strapping machine, onto the pitch he went and with in minutes what clattered to the ground……..and that’s all he did.

Another 3 points and a 4th clean sheet of the season for the team, credit to Booth and his wall of defenders in front of him. For the second consecutive game in a row Greg was Star Man. More to follow against Mancetter lads.
